Number of pigs, laying hens, and broilers raised in the second quarter decreased.

According to the results of the "Livestock Trend Survey for the 2nd Quarter of 2025" released by Statistics Korea on the 25th, the number of pigs raised in the second quarter was 10,896,000 heads, a decrease of 165,000 heads (1.5%) compared to the same period last year. The decrease in the number of pigs raised is due to a reduction in breeding sows, with pigs under 2-4 months and under 4-6 months decreasing by 2.4% and 2%, respectively. The number of breeding sows has been continuously decreasing, with 1,008,000 heads in March 2023, 996,000 heads in March last year, and 989,000 heads in March of the previous year.
