Production of nuts continues to increase in Italy

Volumes grew by 61% in ten years. Italy is the eleventh largest producer in the world. The increase was 61% and in 2023 it is expected to reach 5.7 million tonnes, demonstrating that the nut sector in Italy is experiencing a very interesting moment. Hazelnut cultivation is expanding in various Italian areas thanks to the growing demand for the product from the food industry and the high quality of Italian cultivars. This is one of the data that emerged at the Edmund Mach Foundation in San Michele all'Adige during the two scientific days organized by Fem in collaboration with Soi on the prospects of the sector with particular reference to the state of research but also to the production prospects of nuts whose consumption is becoming overwhelmingly fashionable.
