On September 2, the Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar and the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization held a preparatory meeting for the development of the Myanmar corn market in a conference hall, combining online and offline methods.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization, with economic counselors from Thailand, India, China, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines, as well as chairmen of relevant associations and enterprise representatives in attendance. They held detailed consultations on the development of the Myanmar corn market.
The Director General of the Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization stated that opening up new markets requires the joint efforts of the government and the private sector. Due to the strong international market demand for corn starch, a deep-processed corn product, Myanmar is planning to produce and export corn starch. Corn starch can be used to produce pharmaceutical raw materials, household medical products, veterinary medicines, food raw materials, and fertilizers, which can both replace imported goods and, after meeting domestic demand, be exported overseas, thereby promoting the development of related industries in the future.
