REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI officially operates the Farmers and Traders Train on the Merak Commuter Line service starting Monday (1/12/2025). Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, said this innovation is the result of a collaboration between the KAI Group and the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to streamline the distribution flow of agricultural and local trade products in Banten. "The entire design and modification process of the facilities was handled by the Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng, from the interior layout, baggage space, to the travel support systems to meet the needs of farmers and traders," said Anne in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12/2025).
