Onion harvest confirms production, but disappoints on prices

According to the Conjunctural Information released by Emater/RS-Ascar on Thursday (1), the onion harvest is progressing in the main producing regions of Rio Grande do Sul, with good production performance, but prices below what was expected for the farmers. In the administrative region of Caxias do Sul, in Nova Roma do Sul, the crop cycle occurred later compared to previous harvests. The harvest was completed, and the product presented a caliber and productivity considered satisfactory. However, the value paid to the producer once again disappointed expectations. According to the survey, "the price paid to the producer fell far short of expectations, harming economic viability."
