The Ukrainian market sees the sale of over 20,000 tons of copper annually, with a significant portion, around 60%, being sold directly to consumers by beekeepers, bypassing official trade channels. Only 15% of the honey consumed is industrially processed and sold officially with the necessary certification and at reasonable prices. The Ukrainian honey market is not growing, but consumption of official products is increasing. However, this growth is hindered by the import of Ukrainian honey into the EU, which undermines the value of native production. Bulgarian beekeepers are seeking protective measures against this import, as it enters the EU market at low prices, affecting the purchase value of native production.
