Prices for most open-field vegetables and potatoes decreased in October. According to Rosstat data as of October 13, head cabbage cost an average of 31.7 RUB/kg, which is 15.15% less than last year, potatoes - 39.76 RUB/kg (minus 9.35%), beets - 38.64 RUB/kg (minus 5.89%), and carrots - 44.09 RUB/kg (minus 4.03%). "Kommersant" reports, citing a study by NTech, that the annual growth in prices for basic vegetables is below inflation, which was 8.08% year-on-year from October 7-13, according to the Ministry of Economic Development. Potatoes and carrots in retail increased by an average of 2% year-on-year last week, while onions and carrots remained at last year's level. Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut told President Vladimir Putin that this year's vegetable harvest is expected to be at the level of 2024, and the potato harvest is expected to be 5% higher than last year.
