The article highlights a significant achievement for the Tambopata district in the Madre de Dios region of Peru, where the Association of Organic Collectors of the Amazon Nut of Peru (RONAP) has secured an order to export 64 tons of organic Amazonian chestnuts to the United States between April and July of 2022. This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, with RONAP planning to ship four consignments of 16 tons each month. The export of these chestnuts, which are collected in the wild during specific months, not only supports the local economy and small to medium-sized producers but also contributes to the conservation of the Amazon primary forests. The chestnuts, known for their nutritional benefits and immune system boosting properties, are naturally fresh, organic, and high-quality products, making them a valuable export for the region. This venture is part of the larger efforts to promote the sustainability of small and medium-sized farming institutions, supported by the Ministry and Sierra y Selva Exportadora, aiming to enhance the value of agricultural production in the region.
