India's organic products exports saw a significant growth, reaching a record $1.04 billion during the 2020-21 fiscal, with the United States and European Union being the primary markets. This growth is attributed to India's ability to meet compliance requirements and consistent supply. The country has also expanded the certification system, covering 1.36 million farmers across 34 states and Union Territories, making India the largest producer of organic products. A web-based traceability system, Tracenet, has been launched to track the movement of organic products. Additionally, the export system is being simplified to include more categories such as processed fibers, organic cosmetics, and personal care products.
