The Ministry of Agriculture has reported a general decline in the production of most vegetable crops grown in open areas, with the exception of cucumbers, cabbage, and melons, which have seen an increase in production by up to 17.2% compared to the previous year. The average yield of outdoor tomatoes has also surged by 55.5%. However, the cultivation of peppers has faced significant challenges, with a 15% reduction in planted areas and a production decrease of nearly 90%. Strawberries, watermelons, and potatoes have also seen a decrease in harvested quantities from open areas by up to 34% compared to last year. Despite the cold months facing challenges, the total production of greenhouse tomatoes has increased by 36.6% annually, although there has been an 11% decrease in greenhouse cucumbers.
