Overfishing in the Mediterranean and Black Sea is at its lowest level according to the FAO

Overfishing in the Mediterranean and Black Seas has decreased over the past decade, but the exploitation of most commercial species is still not sustainable. The General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has reported that there is still significant progress needed to achieve sustainable fishing in these regions.
