The Pakistani government has initiated the National Project for the promotion of olive cultivation, with the goal of boosting domestic consumption of olive oil and creating a strong economic sector for farmers and export industries. The project involves planting an additional one million olive trees in September, following a successful plantation of 5.6 million trees. With the help of Italian experts, the government aims to increase the currently unproductive 540,000 hectares of olive trees to 6.6 million. The project also includes subsidies for olive mills and storage centers to ensure quality production and provide a fair economic return for local communities. Despite the focus on domestic consumption, which is currently largely imported, the project also aims to enhance the country's olive oil exports.
