The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) of India has initiated a project to commercially produce 'Neera', a nutrient-rich health drink from palm trees, with the potential to replace soft drinks and create employment. The project involves standardizing collection, processing, and packaging of Neera to prevent fermentation and reach the B2C supply chain. The project also aims to provide self-employment to local traditional trappers and has the potential for export. The initiative was launched with the distribution of tool kits to local artisans by Union Minister of MSME, Nitin Gadkari.
