The Agriculture Department of Panama's Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) organized a training session to enhance pineapple production techniques and introduce the use of GPS devices. The session was led by engineers Joaquín Botacio and Jairo Alfano, who covered topics such as pineapple variety selection, pest and disease control, fertilization, irrigation, and modern cultivation techniques. The use of GPS systems for farming was emphasized for better crop planning and resource management. The training was attended by MIDA technicians, IDIAP researchers, and agricultural students, aiming to promote innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in Panama's agricultural sector, with a specific focus on boosting pineapple production in the Darien and Eastern Panama regions.
