Brazil: After weeks of growth, papaya prices stabilize in Bahia and fall in Espírito Santo

After weeks of growth, sluggish demand and stable supply are impacting papaya prices. According to agents consulted by Hortifrúti/Cepea, throughout this week (12/16 to 12/20), Hawaii 12-18 was sold at R$2.38/kg in the North of Espírito Santo, a 5% drop compared to the previous week. Lower prices paid to producers in this region are due to weaker demand in the main warehouses that consume the fruit, reflecting the proximity of the end-of-year festivities, which, together with school vacations, has limited demand for the fruit.
