A survey by the Hortifrúti/Cepea team reveals that Hawaiian papaya prices have risen for the third consecutive week in key producing regions. Between August 12 and 16, prices for types 15 to 18 averaged R$5.25/kg in the North of Espírito Santo, marking a 95% increase from the previous period, and R$5.17/kg in the South of Bahia, an 82% rise. The price hike is due to a reduced harvest volume caused by cooler temperatures slowing fruit ripening and strong winds leading to defoliation and quality issues.
