The National Competition Commission (Conacom) has resolved to open an investigation file for a presumed infringement of the Competition Defense law, which prohibits restrictive agreements and the abuse of a dominant position in the market against seven slaughterhouses. The economic newspaper 5Días reported that the Board of the regulatory body granted the request submitted by the Investigation Directorate, which requested the instruction of the file following a preliminary analysis of the functioning of the market for the purchase of cattle for slaughter. The slaughterhouses involved are Concepción S.A., Guaraní SACI., Victoria SAE, Frigomerc SA, and the cooperatives Chortitzer (Frigochorti), Fernheim (Frigochaco), and Neuland.
