Paraguay projects 46% growth in wheat production for 2024/25

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released an optimistic forecast for wheat production in Paraguay in its October World Agricultural Production (WAP) report. The crop for the 2024/25 marketing year is estimated at 1.3 million metric tons, which represents a 13% increase over the previous projection and a significant 46% growth when compared to the same period last year. In addition to the increase in production, the yield of Paraguayan wheat is also on an upward trajectory. According to the report, average productivity is projected at 2.60 tons per hectare, an increase of 13% over the previous month and a 37% increase compared to the yield obtained last year. The harvested area remains unchanged at 500,000 hectares, but registered a 6% increase compared to the area planted in the previous season.
