Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has pledged not to impose new taxes on Paraguay's rice industry during his presidency. The industry, which is currently contributing significantly to the country's wealth, is in need of an annual investment of $2,000 per hectare. Javier Jiménez, the Minister of Industry and Trade, stated that the sector's focus is on market opening and brand strengthening. The rice industry has seen positive results in the 2025 harvest season, with improved yields and quality, despite previous challenges. The high productivity levels are expected to offset any price fluctuations, ensuring economic benefits for producers.
