Key leaders from Paraguay's National Service for Animal Quality and Health, along with the General Directorate of Animal Health, have engaged in discussions with Cuba's ambassador to Paraguay to initiate negotiations for the exchange of genetic material for livestock. This move leverages the quality of Paraguay's genetics and the climatic similarities shared with Cuba, with the latter interested in importing semen and embryos from Paraguay. This development builds on Paraguay's recent milestone in exporting bovine semen and embryos to Guatemala, indicating a growing demand for Paraguayan genetics in improving livestock quality globally. Additionally, Peru has expressed interest in importing frozen bovine semen from Paraguay, with the necessary health requirements now in place.
