Argentina: The entry of 234 kg of fruit fly host products was prevented

General Roca (Río Negro) - The National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) yesterday seized 234 kilograms of fruits and vegetables in the Patagonian Zoophytosanitary Barrier. The merchandise did not have the quarantine requirements to enter the region, which is a fruit fly-free area. The seizure was made at the Río Colorado Post, province of Río Negro, during a routine control. There, a bus heading from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to the Rio Negro town of Villa Regina was inspected, with passengers returning from a shopping trip. When checking the transport trunk, they found, among bags with clothes, toys and other products, 32 kilos of peppers, 100 kilos of papayas, 100 kilos of oranges and 2 kilos of limes.
