Italy and Spain are expecting normal harvests of peaches and nectarines this year, following five years of climatic problems. The Italian harvest is expected to recover by 11% from last year, reaching approximately 908,000 tonnes, but will still be slightly below the historical average. Nectarine production is projected to grow by 15%, while peach production is expected to grow by 7%. In Spain, the leader in European production, no significant climatic events have been reported and a harvest of 1.2 million tonnes is expected, just 1% less than last year but 14% more than the five-year average.
