The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the National Peanut Board’s research and promotion program has been approved for continuation by peanut producers, with 93.23% voting in favor in a recent referendum. The program, which is part of the Commodity Promotion, Research and Information Act of 1996, is designed to enhance the market position of peanuts and fund new uses and markets. The USDA conducts a referendum for the program every five years or at the request of 10% or more of eligible peanut producers.
