Vietnam's pepper exports in the first four months of this year saw a decrease in volume but an increase in value, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association. The country exported 83,067 tonnes of pepper, valued at 352 million USD, marking a 19.4% decrease in volume but a 10.3% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023. The average export price of black pepper and white pepper increased by 19.4% and 14.5%, respectively. However, exports to the Asian market, particularly China and the UAE, saw a significant decrease. India emerged as the largest importer of Vietnamese pepper in Asia. There was a surge in exports to the American and European markets, with the US and Germany being the largest importers. Despite a decrease in overall African exports, Egypt's market showed positive signs with a 10.7% increase in exports.
