As of April 20, 2023, global pepper prices remained stable with no fluctuations. In Indonesia, the price for Lampung black pepper and Muntok white pepper remained at $3,540/ton and $6,002 USD/ton respectively. In Malaysia, the Kuching ASTA black pepper and white pepper were priced at $4,900/ton and $7,300/ton respectively. In Brazil, the black pepper ASTA 570 was priced at $2,950/ton. In Vietnam, the export price for black pepper 500 and 550 g/l remained at $3,225 - 3,275 USD/ton and white pepper at $4,780 USD/ton.
In Vietnam, the domestic pepper price increased slightly, trading around 63,500 - 66,500 VND/kg. The majority of the country's pepper exports, nearly 82%, were black pepper, with a volume of 33,389 tons in the first two months of 2023, a 63.2% increase over the same period. However, the export volume of other types of pepper such as ground black pepper, whole white pepper, and ground white pepper decreased by more than 30%. China has become the largest pepper export market for Vietnam in the first two months of 2023, surpassing the US.
