On May 7, 2024, the global pepper market saw a significant increase in prices in Indonesia, with Lampung black pepper and Muntok white pepper experiencing surges of 3.29% and 2.57% respectively, while prices in other countries remained stable. In Vietnam, the domestic pepper market remained steady, with no fluctuations in prices, and preliminary statistics show a 2.2% increase in pepper export volume and a 5.2% increase in turnover in April 2024 compared to the previous month. The average export price of black pepper in April was $4,292/ton, and white pepper was $6,034/ton, marking increases of 4% and 6.5% respectively compared to March 2024. Vietnam's pepper exports to the US in April also saw a 15.5% increase compared to March, reaching the highest export volume since June 2021.
