Peru has started cold treating fruit in ship warehouses, a new initiative aimed at enhancing transportation and logistics efficiency and meeting international demand. This innovation, spearheaded by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, with technical support from Senasa and the USDA-APHIS, allows for the extension of the grape export season. The first shipment, containing 4,000 pallets of grapes from the regions of Ica, Arequipa, and Piura, was loaded onto the Cold Stream of Seatrade bound for the United States. This advancement is expected to mitigate the effects of container shortages and solidify Peru's position as a leading exporter of fresh fruit.
