In the 2023/2024 campaign, Peru experienced a significant decrease of -68.34% in fresh mango exports, totaling 80,050 tons, with the Netherlands, the United States, and Spain being the main importers. The majority of the exports were shipped by sea, with a small fraction sent by air and land. Despite this decline, Peru managed to export 19,394,403 kilos of frozen mango, marking a -72.72% decrease from the previous campaign. The United States, Canada, and Belgium were the primary recipients of the frozen mango. Iván Vílchez, the president of the Peruvian Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM), highlighted the challenging conditions of the 2023/2024 campaign but remains hopeful for the 2024/2025 campaign, citing favorable conditions for flowering and similar temperatures to previous years, which could potentially lead to a good production volume.
