Peru exported 2,332 tons of tomatoes for US$ 2.47 million in August, showing a contraction of 53% in volume and 19% in value

The Peruvian tomato outlook has been affected by lower international demand, which has led to the United States not being supplied as in previous months, with shipments remaining mainly to neighboring countries. In August 2024, tomato exports from Peru reached 2,332 tons for US$ 2.47 million, which meant a drop of -53% in volume and -19% in value. In addition, the average price decreased -42%, falling from US$ 1.8 to US$ 1.1 per kilogram. Peruvian tomatoes were exported mainly in the form of paste (77% share), with 1,421 tons valued at US$ 1.9 million (US$ 1.33 per kilogram). The rest was fresh tomatoes (23%), with 911 tons valued at US$ 575,000 (US$ 0.63 per kilogram). Tomato shipments were received in 9 markets.
