Peru exported 8,613 tons of peas for US$30.2 million between January and October

(Agraria.pe) During this year, Peruvian peas faced the same problems as other Peruvian export products. Weather problems, social conflicts at the beginning of the year and the alteration in their fertilization cycles caused their production volume to reduce and the income received to decrease. From January to October 2023, Peruvian pea exports totaled 8,613 tons for US$30.2 million, which represented a drop of -16% in volume and -7% in value compared to similar months of the previous year. However, there was a compensation in the income received thanks to the increase in price by almost +10%, since it was quoted on average at US$ 3.5 per kilogram. On the other hand, regarding its main destination markets, the United States led the ranking with 4,088 tons acquired for US$ 13 million. This represented a -12% drop in volume and -1% in value.
