In a remarkable surge, Peru's exports soared by 448% in the first month of the year, reaching a total of US$ 6 million 681 thousand, up from US$ 1 million 218 thousand in the same period of 2023. This growth was predominantly fueled by fresh fruit exports, which constituted 96.6% of the total, amounting to US$ 6 million 451 thousand. The Netherlands stood out as the top market, absorbing 83% of these exports, valued at US$ 5 million 561 thousand. Other significant markets included Brazil, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The bulk of the pomegranate production, a key export item, is concentrated in Ica, with Arequipa, Lima, Lambayeque, Ancash, and the burgeoning region of Tacna also contributing to the production.
