In January, Peru witnessed a remarkable 448% increase in pomegranate exports, reaching US$ 6 million 681 thousand, compared to the same period in 2023. The exports, primarily consisting of fresh and frozen pomegranates, were predominantly shipped to the Netherlands, Brazil, and the United States. This significant growth is credited to the concerted efforts of exporting companies and the fruit's cultivation mainly in the Ica region, among others. The surge in exports is also attributed to the rising demand for pomegranates, fueled by their known health benefits.
