The Association of Citrus Producers of Peru (ProCitrus) was established in 1998 to focus on cultivation, training farmers, promoting research, and serving as a liaison with government institutions and other organizations. The Peruvian citrus sector, which includes fruits such as mandarins, clementines, tangelos, limes, Valencia oranges, and grapefruits, is expected to recover from a 6% decrease in production and exports last year, with an estimated total shipment of 280,000 tons in 2023. ProCitrus plays a crucial role in market information sharing and organizing international seminars to combat citrus disease. Peru is the fourth largest citrus producer in the southern hemisphere, with a total production of approximately 1.7 million tons in 2022.
