Peru's ambassador to China, Luis Quesada, stated that economic relations between Peru and China will continue to deepen despite the effects of Covid-19. Trade with China, which grew for the tenth consecutive year in 2019, is Peru's main source of imports and the main destination for its exports. The demand for goods with higher added value will continue to grow, led by fishery products and agro-exports, which reached a historical record of US $ 176 million in 2019. The process of optimizing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Peru and China is also underway, with the inclusion of new topics such as competition policies, electronic commerce, and the global supply chain. In the post-pandemic stage, Peru is encouraged to develop strategies to promote products, services, and attract investment using technology.
