Peru is the third largest exporter of organic cocoa in the world, with its main markets being the Netherlands, Indonesia, Mexico, Malaysia, the United States, Italy, Spain, and Germany. In 2022, Peru exported over 65,000 tons of cocoa beans, worth $155 million, marking an 18% increase in volume and 8% increase in value compared to the previous year. Peru aims to increase its per capita chocolate consumption from 500 grams to one kilogram by 2025, with European countries being key markets for Peruvian chocolates.
