Peru has received approval from the European Commission's DG SANTE to export fish and crustaceans from aquaculture to the EU market. This follows an audit and subsequent modifications by the National Fisheries Health Agency (Sanipes) to its 2024 control plans on residues in aquaculture, ensuring compliance with EU standards. The country can now export species such as trout, tilapia, and shrimp. Adjustments were made to address unauthorized antimicrobials and substances, and action levels for emamectin and cadmium were aligned with EU guidelines, ensuring proper control of residues, pesticides, and contaminants.
