(Agraria.pe) Peru, one of the world's leading fruit producers, is diversifying its markets for blueberry exports, aiming for Asia to become a key buyer, eventually displacing the United States. The Andean country is currently the world's largest exporter of blueberries, especially to the United States, where this fruit has become popular due to its antioxidant properties. However, Peru's Minister of Agriculture, Ángel Manero, seeks to open new opportunities in Asia following recent trips to Japan, Indonesia, and Korea. "The United States gets upset when we talk about Asia, but we believe that Peru needs to diversify its agricultural product offerings," declared Manero. "And we think that Asia offers great opportunities."
