The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation in Peru, leading through the National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), has initiated a vaccination campaign against Anthrax in the northern region of La Libertad, with the goal of protecting livestock from this highly contagious and fatal disease. The campaign aims to vaccinate over 56,000 cattle, with current progress at 54.28%, covering provinces such as Trujillo, Vire, Pacasmayo, Chepén, Ascope, and Santiago de Chuco. Anthrax, caused by Bacillus anthracis, poses a threat to multiple species including cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, and horses, and can also transmit to humans. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the health of livestock and prevent the spread of Anthrax across various departments in Peru.
