In 2024, Peru became the leading exporter of Hass avocados to China, shipping 50,000 tons, a 40% increase from the previous year. This achievement placed Peru as the global leader in the Asian market and surpassed competitors like Chile and Kenya. The success was attributed to a collaborative effort between the government, farmers, and exporting companies, and the country's year-round production and favorable weather conditions. The main avocado-producing regions in Peru are Lima, La Libertad, and Ica. In 2024, Peru exported 539,000 tons of Hass avocados, generating revenues of US$ 1,129 million.
