In the first quarter of 2023, despite weather challenges, Peru's agricultural sector saw substantial growth, particularly in blueberry production which increased by 37.5% compared to the previous year. This growth is due to an expansion in cultivation areas in regions like Lambayeque, Ica, and La Libertad, and the introduction of new blueberry varieties. The United States continues to be the primary market for Peruvian blueberries. The country has seen a significant increase in blueberry crop expansion, going from 1,923 hectares in 2016 to 18,614 hectares in 2020. There is optimism for further growth in blueberry exports as Peru aims to expand its market reach beyond the United States.
