In the first half of 2021, Peruvian agricultural exports experienced a 20% increase compared to the previous year, reaching a value of $3,480 million. This growth was largely driven by non-traditional agricultural exports, which accounted for 97% of the total and saw a 21% increase, totaling $3,361 million. The main non-traditional export products included fresh avocado, grape, mango, asparagus, and frozen mango. Traditional agricultural exports, which primarily consist of coffee, saw a 5% share of the total exports. The United States was the main destination for these exports, accounting for 27% of the total value. However, the trade balance surplus of $494 million in the first half of 2021 was 16% lower than the previous year due to a 29% increase in agricultural imports.
