Peru's agricultural ministry has reported a growth in the country's agricultural exports, with a notable increase in seafood for direct human consumption, which surged by 83.4% in volume and 38.7% in value. The growth was led by higher sales of frozen seafood, particularly to China, and canned seafood, driven by tuna and anchovies. Despite a decrease in the volume of products for indirect human consumption, their value increased by 5.5%. The exports experienced a decline in fishmeal and fish oil, but there was a 1% increase in sales for fishmeal and a significant 18.7% increase in fish oil sales. Overall, Peru's agricultural exports in 2022 reached 1.75 million tons, valued at $3.97 billion, marking a decrease in volume but an increase in value from the previous year.
