The Peruvian agro-export sector has experienced a significant surge, with a 23.3% increase in shipments totaling 9.36 billion dollars during the first ten months of 2024, compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth is primarily driven by the exports of blueberries, avocados, and non-decaffeinated coffee, which have seen increases of 50.7%, 29%, and 61% respectively. The United States remains the primary market, accounting for 33.3% of these exports, while exports to emerging markets have also seen an increase. This growth is attributed to the collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors, highlighted by a recent agreement with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, focusing on technical training, export promotion, and sustainability. However, the sector faces challenges such as the need for increased producer capacity building and access to financing to continue this growth trajectory.
