In the first quarter of 2021, Peru's agricultural exports experienced an 8.9% increase compared to the previous year, amounting to sales of 1,744 million dollars, as reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). This growth was primarily driven by non-traditional agricultural exports, which saw a 9.2% increase to 1.689 million dollars, with fresh grapes, mangoes, avocados, and blueberries being the top products. Traditional agricultural exports also saw a slight increase of 0.1% from the previous year, totaling 57 million dollars. The United States continued to be the primary destination for these exports, accounting for 31.5% of the total. Notably, non-traditional agricultural exports surpassed traditional exports in March, contributing 60% of the total agricultural exports for the month, which saw a 13% increase compared to the same month in 2020.
