The Free Trade Agreement between Peru and India would allow our country to increase its exports to this market up to ten times, due to its enormous population scale and the high demand for products in which Peru has clear competitive advantages, affirmed William Muñoz, research economist from the Catholic University Sedes Sapientiae. “Our agro-exports to India are minimal. But it is a country with a growing demand for quality fruits and foods. With the entry into force of the FTA, which is expected to be signed during the next year, Peru would multiply its agricultural shipments more than ten times, reaching $300 to $500 million in the first five years. It is a historic opportunity,” he specified. While Peruvian exports to India totaled $4,739 million in 2024, trade is dominated by metals and only 2.15% of them correspond to the non-traditional sector.
