From January to April of this year, Peru's agroindustrial exports to China experienced a 26.8% increase compared to the same period in 2020, totaling US $ 55,420,000, as reported by the Association of Exporters (ADEX). This growth is primarily due to higher shipments of grapes, fresh or frozen seaweed, powdered tara, and avocados. Non-traditional exports (with added value) were the second most important subsector, followed by fishing for Direct Human Consumption. Overall, Peru's exports to China in the first four months of the year totaled US $ 5,123 million, marking a 62.2% increase and surpassing pre-pandemic levels, with traditional agriculture exports seeing a 235.6% increase.
