Peruvian artichoke exports in 2022 saw a positive growth of 5% in volume and 8% in value, reaching 58,319 tons and valued at US$162 million. The average price per kilogram increased by 3% to US$ 2.77. The vegetable was exported to over 20 countries and reached the second position in the Peruvian agricultural export basket, following asparagus. The growth was attributed to the need for crop homogeneity due to climate change and increased demand for processed products, as fresh produce becomes more costly. Despite logistical challenges, there was significant growth in shipments to Europe and South America, while shipments to North America saw a slight decrease. The United States, Spain, and the Netherlands were the primary destinations for these exports.
