The Vice Minister of Foreign Trade in Peru stated that cocoa and chocolate are crucial industries in the country, providing income for over 90,000 small family farming producers and MSMEs. The export of cocoa and derivatives reached more than $334 million in 2022, representing a growth of 10% compared to the previous year. The Peruvian government is also working to address the concerns raised by the new European Union regulation on deforestation to minimize the risks to their exports.
