Thanks to the MiCacao project, led by Open Food Chain and Helvetas Perú and financed by the I4AgFund of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, the first 100% traceable chocolate bar has been launched on the market, fully aligned with the European Union's EUDR regulation. The heart of this revolution lies in an open-source digital platform that allows producers to meet the stringent requirements of the European Union while offering consumers reliable and verifiable information about the origin and journey of the cocoa. Farmers from Norandino and the Agrarian Cooperative Acopagro Ltda., in Peru, use the Identi application to record data from each step and maintain ownership of it, thus ensuring the transparency and authenticity of the product.
