Between January and May of 2021, Peru experienced a significant decrease in its exports of unsweetened cocoa paste, dropping from 1.339 million kilos in 2020 to 732,047 kilos in 2021. Despite the decrease, Argentina remained the largest importer, receiving 42% of the total shipments worth $3.22 million. Other countries including the United States, Costa Rica, Chile, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands also imported Peruvian cocoa paste. The main exporting companies were Machu Picchu Trading SAC, Ecoandino SAC, Organic Rainforest SAC, Villa Andina SAC, and Exportadora Romex SA.
